Ignore
it at your peril
The Japanese
achieved complete surprise at Pearl Harbor, but incredibly the US
forces ignored two major warnings. A US destroyer fired at, and depth
charged, a Japanese midget submarine trying to sneak into Pearl Harbor
one hour before the air attack. Also that morning soldiers manning
the new Opana radar station saw a cloud of blips 132 miles from Oahu
- "probably more than 50 aircraft". They called the Information Centre
but were told: "Don't worry about it."
