In the last 117 years, the National Geographic Society
has developed many media vehicles to expand mankind's understanding of the
world and to further its mission to "increase and diffuse geographic
knowledge."
In order to expand its reach and further its mission rapidly, the Society
entered into a strategic partnership with News Corp, one of the largest media
houses in the world, to give birth to National Geographic Channels
International (NGCI). Formed in September 1997, NGCI runs the National
Geographic Channel, which is emerging as the Society's fastest growing media.
The channel is available through cable and satellite on a 24-hour basis and can
now be seen by over 260 million households in 27 languages and in 160 countries
around the world. NGCI has different websites catering to the local needs of
their subscribers across the globe.

Television (NGT) is the television production arm of the National Geographic
Society and the core supplier of programs to the National Geographic Channel.

projects emphasizing exploration and adventure that are not necessarily
