NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL CELEBRATES
HARI RAYA IN ASIA

Featuring Inside Mecca and Muhammad: Legacy of A Prophet

1 October 2007, Asia - National Geographic Channel Asia announces the airing of two highly-rated television documentary programmes this October: Inside Mecca and Muhammad: Legacy of A Prophet to celebrate Hari Raya in Asia.

Mr Basil Chua, Marketing Director of National Geographic Channel Asia says, "National Geographic Channel invites viewers to rethink the way we understand the modern world. Hari Raya is an important religious day for Muslims. These highly-rated television documentary programmes seek to reveal fresh perspectives and shed new insights into the Islamic world and beliefs, which are rich in culture and steep in traditions. We hope that viewers will be inspired by the compelling storytelling and breathtaking visuals of the programmes."

Inside Mecca (1 x 60-minute) and Muhammad: Legacy of A Prophet (2 x 60-minute) are produced by National Geographic Television.

INSIDE MECCA (TELECAST: Friday, 12 October 9pm)

Inside Mecca tells the epic story of the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Islam's holiest city, made by millions of devout Muslims each year. It is not only a grueling trek- it is the spiritual journey of a lifetime. This hour-long documentary follows the pilgrimage of three Muslims, one from America, one from Africa, and one from Malaysia, as they make their way through the suffocating press of millions in order to perform the essential rituals of their faith. Unprecedented access to several dramatic rituals, including the spectacularly visual circling of the Ka'aba, gives us inspiring insights into a three-day ritual that is both a spiritual and physical marathon.

MUHAMMAD: LEGACY OF A PROPHET (TELECAST: Friday, 12 October 10pm)

Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet tells the story of the 7th century prophet who changed world history in 23 years, and continues to shape the lives of more than 1.2 billion people. The film creates a lively, thorough, and honest portrait of Muhammad, the man and the prophet. It takes viewers not only to ancient Arabian sites where Muhammad's story unfolded, but into the homes, mosques and workplaces of some of the United States' six million Muslims to discover the many ways in which they follow Muhammad's example. Stunningly shot on film throughout the Middle East, Europe, and the US, this high-end documentary chronicles the life of one of the most influential men in history.
