25 April 2008, Singapore - National Geographic Channel Asia and Samsung
Asia jointly announce the launch of a brand new integrated marketing campaign
to further promote full high-definition in Southeast Asia and Oceania. Timed to
the launch of Samsung's Series 6 flagship full high-definition television
(HDTV), the cross-platform partnership brings together National Geographic
Channel's exciting HD programmes and Samsung's cutting edge product innovations
to showcase the beauty of the world in full high-definition splendor.
The brand new campaign builds on the success of last year's "Redefining the
Beauty of the World" campaign, which won the prestigious "Best Integrated
Campaign in the Pay TV category" at the Cable & Satellite Broadcasting
Association of Asia (CASBAA) TV Advertising Awards 2007.
Starting in April 2008, Samsung will be presenting five documentary programmes,
produced in high-definition, to be aired on National Geographic Channel and
National Geographic Channel HD. These include the premiere, Living with Big Cats
by National Geographic Explorers-In-Residence and filmmakers, Dereck and
Beverly Joubert, Dangerous Encounters by National Geographic presenter
and leading crocodile expert, Dr Brady Barr as well as Guardians of Nature,
China Circus and Megastructures China. In addition, a series of six vignettes
will be produced to allow the audience to appreciate the beauty of the world in
Samsung full HDTV.
Mr Avinash Himatsinghani, Senior Vice President of Advertising Sales &
Partnerships, National Geographic Channels Asia says, "Having won the Best
Integrated Campaign award at CASBAA affirms our campaign is a success and with
our continued partnership, we have packed in a more extensive campaign. This
year, the campaign will offer on-ground events in Singapore, Malaysia and
Australia, with unique access to celebrated National Geographic filmmakers and
experts.
This partnership with Samsung will bring National Geographic Channel's
compelling stories of unsurpassed quality and superior level of credibility to
a new level; taking viewers right into the action with breathtaking visuals and
incredible surround sound. The documentaries presented by Samsung ranges from
wildlife and nature to science and technology and it is great that we can
showcase this with Samsung's full HDTV."
Mr David Henry, Director of Regional Marketing at Samsung Asia says, "The
alliance has enabled consumers to experience HD and understand its benefits by
delivering a superior viewing experience right in the comforts of their homes.
Samsung will continue to excite and directly engage our consumers through
multiple, integrated platforms to bring HD closer to their lifestyles needs."
As part of the campaign, Virtual-Safari, a themed on-ground roadshow will have
the award-winning filmmakers, Dereck and Beverly Joubert, touring Singapore and
Malaysia in May 2008, while crocodile expert, Dr Brady Barr will be touring
Australia in June to present their award-winning documentaries to diverse
audiences through Southeast Asia and the Oceania.
Additionally, the Virtual-Safari interactive website, hosted at
www.ngcasia.com/samsung, has an online contest which offers a premium
32 inch Samsung HDTV to the grand prize winner.
