Captain Gordon Amos, Director of Marine Operations, Titan Salvage
55-year-old British Master Mariner Gordon Amos has been in the salvage business for over a quarter of a century. He’s a fifth generation seafarer who has been involved in the sea from a very young age, officially kick-starting his seagoing career back in 1970 as a deck apprentice. He trained at the London School of Navigation, and spent the next 14 years serving in all ranks up to Master. Having sailed on everything from cargo vessels, tankers and ferries, to coasters, tugs and dredgers, Gordon possesses the kind of confidence at the helm that’s essential in a line of work that could require you to take command of any vessel in distress anywhere in the world.
John Walshe, Salvage Supervisor, Titan Savlage
Salvors are a rare breed of men; highly dedicated, driven and multi-skilled, they combine both brains and brawn in extreme but equal measures, and thrive on the challenge and unpredictability of rescuing and removing stricken ships at sea. They’re a breed that Titan has attracted and produced in abundance, and John Walshe is one such salvor. Having worked with the company for a decade, he’s one of Titan’s top rated experienced divers. When Salvage Master Jim Conroy first heard about the bulk carrier New Flame stranded in the Strait of Gibraltar, he knew it would be a high profile, high pressure job, exactly the kind of job where it would be a huge asset to have John on his team.
